PURPOSE:To increase the current collecting capability in a positive electrode and to obtain a battery having excellent high rate discharge performance by almost horizontally arranging a metal disk in the middle part, in the axis sirection, of a positive electrode. CONSTITUTION:A metal disk 4 is almost horizontally arranged in the middle part, in the axis direction, of a cylindrical positive electrode 3 comprising a porous carbon molding, and a needle-shaped positive current collector 7 is pierced in the axis direction into the positive electrode 3 for making current collection in the positive electrode. Current collecting capability in the positive electrode is increased and a remarkable drop in workability for assembling a battery is prevented. By horizontally arranging the metal disk 4 in the middle part, in the axis direction, of the positive electrode 3, since current is collected on both sides of the disk 4, the current collecting capability in the positive electrode is increased compared with that in only the current collector 7. |
