There is described a rod-shaped tampon for feminine hygiene, to whose spiral-wound absorbent band is secured a retrieval thread (cord) in the region of the inner wound layer. For the purpose of stabilisation, at least the outermost layer of the wound structure 6 is adhered in places to the layer underneath. In the extreme case all the layers are adhered to one another with spots of adhesive. The adhesive used is preferably polyethylene wax. <IMAGE>
