<p>PURPOSE:To obtain the subject metal oxide varistor for which mounting space can be made small and the man-hours for mounting of parts can also be reduced by a method wherein an L-shaped electrode and a rectangular electrode are formed respectively on the upper and the lower parts of an element, a side-part electrode is formed as the side part of the element and the upper rectangular electrode and the lower L-shaped electrode are connected by the side-part electrode. CONSTITUTION:Almost L-shaped electrodes 11 and 15 and rectangular electrodes 12 and 14 are formed respectively on the upper and the lower parts of the element 10 which constitutes a varistor, a side-part electrode 13 is formed on the side-part of electrode 10, and the upper rectangular electrode 12 and the lower almost L-shaped electrode 15 are connected by the side-part electrode 13. Then, lead terminals 16-18 are provided on the upper almost L-shaped electrode 11 and rectangular electrode 12 and the lower rectangular electrode 14. Consequently, as a three-terminal type varistor, in which two-terminal type varistors MOV 1, 2 and 3 are integrally formed, can be constituted as shown in the diagram, the reduction both in mounting space and part mounting man- hours on a printed wiring board can be accomplished.</p> |
