Apparatus for filling gases into bottles (1), in which the filling connection (6a) of the bottle (1) can be connected in a controlled manner to a filling head (8) and the filling weight is determined by means of a balance (2). The filling apparatus is to be simplified and a predetermined filling weight is to be introduced with greater accuracy. The bottle (1) and the filling head (8) are arranged, together with movement members (13, 25) of the latter, on the balance (2). Process steps for testing the apparatus and for the automatic control of the loading valves (28, 29) and of a relief valve (30) by a control device (31) are specified. The filling apparatus is suitable for gases of all kinds. <IMAGE>
