PURPOSE:To obtain the title resin which has low hygroscopicity and excellent dimensional stability, heat resistance, and mechanical strengths, by copolymerizing methyl methacrylate, a fluorinated alkyl methacrylate, and an alicyclic hydrocarbon methacrylate. CONSTITUTION:The title resin comprises a copolymer of 20-60 pts.wt. methyl methacrylate (A), 2-50 pts.wt. fluorinated alkyl methacrylate (B) (e.g., trifluoroethyl methacrylate), and 5-50 pts.wt. alicyclic hydrocarbon methacrylate (C) (e.g., adamantyl methacrylate). The copolymerization of the monomer A with the monomers B and C having hydrophobic groups can give an optical disc base plate which has low hygroscopicity, excellent dimensional stability, and a good balance among the maximum temperature at which it withstands heat, the transmittance, the birefringence, and the impact strength. |
