PURPOSE:To manufacture the title sintered magnet having excellent corrosion resistance and no deterioration of its magnetic characteristics by adding specific amounts of oxide of Ni, Co, Mn, etc., to alloy powder consisting essentially of rare earth elements, B and Fe and subjecting the same to molding and sintering. CONSTITUTION:Total 0.0005-2.5wt.% of at least one kind among the oxide of Ni, Co, Mn, Cr, Ti, V and Nb are added to R-B-Fe alloy powder consisting essentially of about 8-30 atom% R (at least one kind among rare earth elements including Y), about 2-28 atom% B and the balance consisting essentially of Fe. A molding assistant is added to said powder at need and about 0.5-10t/cm<2> pressure is applied thereto in a nonoxidizing atmosphere to mold. Said molded body is then sintered at about 900-1200 deg.C at about 1-2000 deg.C rising temp. in a nonoxidizing atmosphere and is cooled at about 1-2000 deg.C/min cooling rate. After sintering, said material may be subjected to a heat treatment at about 400-700 deg.C in a nonoxidizing atmosphere in order to furthermore improve its magnetic characteristics. |
