The glass roof comprises a self-supporting load-bearing frame which is constructed from rafters 5 running in the main direction of inclination of the roof and from crossmembers which are arranged transversely thereto and are connected thereto. A longitudinal bearing profile 10 is seated on each rafter 5 and a transverse bearing profile is seated on each crossmember. The cross-sectionally approximately T-shaped bearing profiles 10 form, by means of their legs, border-bearing surfaces 12 for fire-resistant glass panes 13 which are in each case arranged in the divisions which are delimited by the bearing profiles 10 and located between the webs of said profiles 10. Arranged above each bearing profile 10 is a covering profile 20 which rests in a sealing manner on the fire-resistant glass panes 13 and is fastened on the load-bearing frame by means of a screw 23. The fire-resistant glass panes 13 are mounted in a floating manner within the load-bearing frame, with the result that mechanical stresses between glass 13 and load-bearing frame are largely avoided. Said glass roof constructed in this manner offers fire protection towards the outside with respect to a flame front situated beneath the roof. <IMAGE>
