In a process for making shrinkable sleeves from a continuous web of tubing which is drawn off from a die of an extruder and on which a deep fold and a final fold of lesser depth, opposite the said deep fold, are formed, the fold is folded out again before welding the side seams. This may be carried out before or after cutting open the sleeve opening. Furthermore, an apparatus for carrying out the process and a shrinkable sleeve with thickened side walls in the region of the opening are specified. <IMAGE> |
