PURPOSE:To provide a health food capable of prevention or elimination of obesity, containing, as the active ingredients, gardenia essence and soybean saponin. CONSTITUTION:For example, gardenia fruits are heated and dried followed by grinding and defatting with e.g., n-hexane. Thence, the active ingredients contained in the resultant defatted product are extracted using water, methanol, etc., and the solvent is removed under reduced pressure from the resulting extracted solution, thus obtaining the objective health food containing, as the active ingredients, gardenia essence and soybean saponin. |
