PURPOSE:To surely erase even a magnetic tape with a high coercive force by using an ordinary commercial power source as it is by rotating the magnetic tape in a coil having length larger than the winding diameter and width smaller than that of the magnetic tape. CONSTITUTION:An erasing unit 23 is constituted of a core 24 and the coil 25. The coil 25 is wound at the prescribed length and width so that a linear part in an up-and-down direction and an almost semicircular part in a horizontal direction can be formed, and a space 26 is formed in its center. The core 24 is arranged outside the linear part of the coil 25. By forming the erasing unit 23, a uniform magnetic field can be generated in the space 26 in a direction perpendicular to the coil 25. Therefore, by advancing the magnetic tape into the space by a moving means and rotating it by a rotating means, the magnetic tape can be erased by magnetic flux generated by the coil. In such a way, it is possible to erase information recorded in a longitudinal direction of the magnetic tape by using the ordinary commercial power source efficiently. |
