LONG-SIZED SUPERCONDUCTOR AND MANUFACTURE THEREOF

PURPOSE:To obtain a long-sized ceramic body having flexibility by forming a superconductive layer continuously in the longitudinal direction on the surface of long-sized ceramic base having flexibility. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of a metallic element of alcoxide or acetylacetonate, constituting oxide superconductive material, is dissolved into alcohol, and water is added to undergo hydrolysis and to obtain a solution 2. Putting the solution into a crucible 3, a long-sized ceramic base body 1 made of zirconia tape is introduced from above into the crucible and is passed through the solution 2. This forms an application layer 4 by the solution 2 on the surface of the base body 1. The base body 1 is then introduced into a heating oven 5 located underneath. When the base body 1 is heated, a superconductive layer 6 is formed on the surface of the base body 1, with the layer 6 being made of an oxide of the family of Y-Ba-Cu-O. This makes it possible to manufacture the long-sized superconductive ceramic body having flexibility.
