PURPOSE:To heighten recording density and to accelerate readout speed by providing recording tracks which form a pair with intervals smaller than bit width, and reading out a bit by projecting a reading optical beam spot with the interval larger than that of the track on the intermediate part of the pair of recording tracks. CONSTITUTION:In the recording area of an optical disk 1, the recording tracks T11, T12-Tn1, Tn2 which form the pairs are formed at the track interval l2 of the recording tracks which form the pair, respectively, and the track interval l1 of adjacent recording tracks which form the pair, and it is set as l1>l2. Also, the readout of a pit on the recording tracks T11 and T12 which form the pair is performed by a reading optical beam spot 5. The reading optical beam spot 5 is formed larger than the track interval l2, and projects the pits on the two recording tracks T11 and T12 which form the pair simultaneously by projecting the intermediate part of the recording tracks T11 and T12. In such a way, it is possible to heighten the recording density and to accelerate the readout speed. |
