PURPOSE: To detect an insect living in a lumber and its larva rapidly and posi tively, by detecting an acoustic vibration generated due to the insect and its larva and comparing it with a pattern that is stored in advance. CONSTITUTION: A subjective vibration generated by an insect or its larva and/or an acoustic occurrence are recorded and the continuation time, shape, and spectrum of a signal that characterizes the behavior pattern are examined and are recorded in a microcomputer M. A sound or a vibration generated by the insect or its larva is detected by a detector A and is inputted to the above microcomputer M. The microcomputer M compares inputted sound or vibration pattern with a behavior pattern that is stored in advance and displays the presence of the insect and its larva at a display when they are coincident with the recorded patterns. |
