PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy of optical axis adjustment and fixing of optical fibers by fixing an optical circuit element and optical fiber holders onto a common substrate. CONSTITUTION:The optical fibers 5A-5C are respectively set in optical fiber guides 6A-6C formed to the optical fiber holders 2, 3. The optical circuit element 4 formed with light guides, the end faces of which are finished to specular surfaces, and the optical fiber holders 2, 3 are disposed on the single substrate for assembly. The optical fiber holders 2, 3 and the optical circuit element 4 are then adjusted within the plane perpendicular to the optical axis and the end faces of the optical fibers 5A-5C are brought into tight contact with the end face of the optical circuit element 4; thereafter, the entire part is fixed by an adhesive agent. The optical axis adjustment is thereby required to be made for 1 or two axes on one side and the sufficient adhesive strength is provided to the device even at the time of adhering and fixing the optical fibers. |
