PURPOSE:To obtain excellent picture quality by a simple circuit by executing interpolation/enlargement processing respectively independently in the main scanning direction and the sub-scanning direction and inputting one processed result to the other processing. CONSTITUTION:The title device is provided with digital differential analyzers (DDAs) 14, 15 for setting up optional interpolating positions, selecting 2mX2n image data surrounding the interpolating positions around the set interpolating positions and finding out distances (x), (y) from the set interpolating positions up to the selected image data. The device is also provided with 1st interpolation image data forming means 16-18 forming intermediate interpolation image data I(Y) by the distance (y), a factor omega(y) uniquely determined based on the distance (y) and 2n image data in the Y direction, and 2nd interpolation image data forming means 19-21 forming the final interpolation image data I by the distance (x), a factor omega(x) uniquely determined based on the distance (x) and 2m 1st interpolation image data I(Y) formed in the X direction. Consequently, excellent interpolation processing can be rapidly executed by the simple constitution. |
