PURPOSE:To obtain superconductive ceramics having increased critical current density by subjecting powdery starting material consisting of the oxide of a tervalent rare earth element, BaO2 and CuO2 to calcining, molding and sintering. CONSTITUTION:Powdery starting material consisting of the oxide of R (a tervalent rare earth element), BaO2 and CuO2 is calcined to obtain powder represented by the formula (where x<1). This powder is molded to a prescribed shape and the molded body is sintered to obtain objective superconductive ceramics. since the starting material contains BaO2 and CuO2 as peroxides, the powder represented by the formula is synthesized under the influence of excess oxygen contained in the peroxides during calcining, so the amt. of oxygen contained in the resulting ceramics is increased and the critical current density is increased. The effect of the peroxides is produced independently of annealing. |
