The invention disclosed herein relates to a contact element (24) having upwardly extending, spaced apart arms (106, 108) capable of being twisted about a horizontal axis to provide torsional forces and converging fingers (118) extending laterally from the arms (106, 108) to receive between the free ends (122) a pin (14) or lead from an electronic package (10) or device to establish electrical contact therebetween. The free ends (122) of the fingers (118), being spaced apart a distance less than the pin diameter or lead thickness, exert compressive forces against the pin or lead which, along with the torsional forces being exerted by the arms (106, 108), provides an enhanced electrical contact. |
