PURPOSE:To obtain an artificial leather having the feeling of natural leather rich in moist and soft feeling, by including an oil-soluble nonionic surfactant in an artificial leather composed of a polyamide synthetic fiber and a polymeric elastomer. CONSTITUTION:An artificial leather composed of preferably a finely splittable polyamide synthetic fiber and a polymeric elastomer is immersed in a halogenated hydrocarbon solution (e.g. perchloroethylene solution) of an oil- soluble nonionic surfactant to include 0.05-5wt.%, preferably 0.3-3wt.% (based on the leather) of said surfactant in the artificial leather. An artificial leather having excellent slimy and soft feeling close to that of natural leather can be produced by the addition of said surfactant. The surfactant is e.g. monoglyceride of oleic acid, cetyl alcohol, etc., sorbitan lauric acid monoester or nonylphenol EOA (4mol.) of alkylphenol EOA, etc. |
