The invention concerns a new protein of approximately 17 KD, with angiogenic activity, a process for isolating it from mammalian milk, therapeutic compositions containing it, a process for detecting and/or determining the content of mammalian angiogenines, their homologues and their fragments. Said protein, of bovine origin, has a sequence of 125 aminoacids, 81 of which are common to human angiogenine, and a molecular weight of approximately 17 KD, and is extracted from mammalian milk.
