HYDROSTATIC SERVO-ASSISTED STEERING SYSTEM, IN PARTICULAR FOR MOTOR VEHICLES

A hydrostatic servo-assisted steering system with mode-independent power distribution has a diaphragm (35) which generates a pressure differential for controlling a variable displacement pump (28). A control valve device (18) comprises a valve piston (15) which slides in a valve bore (14). The diaphragm (35) is arranged between the transverse cross-section of the opening (26) of pressure line (27) into the valve bore (14) and a central collar (21) formed on the valve piston (15). The diaphragm (35) has a cross-section which can be varied in function of the switching position of the control valve device (18). The cross-section of the diaphragm (35) attains it minimum value in the neutral median position of the control valve device (18) and can be enlarged in both directions by an adjustment of the control valve device (18).
