A safety plug device, comprising a plug socket (which, within a housing, has insertion openings and pivoting slides which close said openings) and a plug part, whose plug pins are aligned transversely with respect to the insertion direction into the insertion openings and whose operating attachment interacts with a pivoting profile of each pivoting slide. The technical problem is to provide a safety plug device which has good operational safety (operational reliability) and can be assembled (installed) easily. A cap-like pivoting slide (12) is provided for each pole contact (6) and can pivot about an axis at right angles to the connecting line between the pole contacts (6), and at right angles to the insertion direction (22). On one side wall (13) of each pivoting slide (12), a pivoting profile (14) projects into the centre space between the insertion openings of the pole contacts. <IMAGE>
