The invention relates to a process for the production of rigid foam from acrylic and/or methacrylic polymers by polymerisation and foaming of acrylic acid compounds and/or methacrylic acid compounds at elevated temperature, in which an oligomer mixture, a flameproofing agent and a nitrogen-eliminating catalyst, a cell regulator, a foam stabiliser or foam regulator, a crosslinking agent and a wetting agent are polymerised and foamed in a mould for a time of from 20 to 60 minutes.
