The invention concerns the process for manufacturing a device for generating shock waves which are felt only slightly, if at all, by patients. Said device comprises a truncated ellipsoidal reflector (12) having a (b)/(a) ratio > 0.60, preferably between 0.60 and 0.85, and a connection (14) for connecting the electrodes (6, 8) to an electric current source comprising a condensor (18) having a capacitance less than or equal to 500 nanofarads. The energy density of the emitted shock waves is thereby reduced at the level of the skin. Patients feel said waves only slightly, if at all, and can even be traited without anaesthesia.
