<p>A lubricated rotary seal (10) mounted between a shoulder (12) of a rotary shaft (11) and a face plate (14) through which the shaft end (13) extends has a ring-shaped body (15) that fits on the shaft end (13) and partially overlaps the shaft shoulder (12). A porous bearing washer (18) on the face of the seal (10) spans a circular channel (17) in the body (15) which contains oil-soaked wadding (19). A cylindrical recess (16) in the seal body (15) fits over the shaft shoulder (12) and houses several compression springs (27) which press the seal (10) with its lubricated bearing washer (18) in contact with the face plate (14). Debris formed by erosion of the bearing washer (18) can be accumulated in the seal body (15) and periodically removed. Oil can be periodically injected into the wadding (19).</p> |
