PURPOSE:To surely record a signal on a tape by recording the signal to be recorded with an azimuth head on a track as it is by means of a sub-azimuth head when the prescribed signal is not recorded with a main azimuth head. CONSTITUTION:The sub-azimuth heads 13 and 14 are provided which detect the signal recorded on the track by tracing the main azimuth heads 11 and 12 on the track where the signal is recorded by the main azimuth heads 11 and 12. Further, when it is judged that the prescribed signal is not recorded on the track from the signal detected by the sub-azimuth heads 13 and 14, the signal to be recorded by the main azimuth heads 11 and 12 is recorded on the track by means of the sub-azimuth heads 13 and 14. Thus, when the main azimuth heads 11 and 12 are defective at the time of the recording, the signal can be recorded on the tape by the sub-azimuth heads 13 and 14, and the signal can be surely recorded on a tape 3. |
