Press platen for pressing pressed-material mats in the manufacture of particle boards, fibreboards and the like, having steam outlet openings in the surface on the side of the material to be pressed and also steam guide channels in the cross-section region on the side of the material to be pressed and having holes for heat-transfer medium in the adjoining cross-section region. The invention provides a steel plate which carries the holes for the heat-transfer medium and has, in its surface on the side of the material to be pressed, chambers forming steam guide channels. A plate containing the steam outlet openings, which are adapted to the chambers, is placed on this surface of the steel plate. <IMAGE>
