Zn (II) phytate, for treatment of exalocalcic renal lithiasis by preventing formation of kidney stones, is made by (a) reacting an aq. soln. of phytic acid with an aq. soln. of a zinc salt, keeping the pH at 1.5-3 by addn. of HCl; (b) pptn. of zinc phytate by addn. of NH4OH; and (c) filtering off the solid and drying.
