PURPOSE:To obtain a coating composition excellent in adhesion, heat resistance, flexibility and rapid dryability, by using a specified chlorinated modified 4- methylpentene-1 (co)polymer. CONSTITUTION:A modified 4-methylpentene-1 polymer obtained by grafting 2-20wt.% unsaturated carboxylic acid (anhydride) component (e.g., maleic acid) upon a 4-methylpentene-1 polymer or a copolymer comprising this polymer and at most 45wt.% 2-20C alpha-olefin component (e.g., ethylene) each of which has an MI (at 260 deg.C under a load of 5kg/cm<2>) of 70-300g/10min (ASTM D-1238-65T) and a crystallinity of 1-35wt.% is chlorinated to obtain a chlorinated modified 4-methylpentene-1 polymer of a chlorine content of 50-75wt.%. 1-30wt.% this polymer is dissolved in a solvent (e.g., toluene), and a pigment, a paint auxiliaries, etc., are optionally added to the solution. |
