摘要 <p>A method of processing an optical signal to recover an image from superimposed clutter, the image and the clutter having different characteristic coherence lengths, includes the steps of applying the received optical signal to an optical interferometer system (1) having a pair of arms (1A,1B), the length of one of which differs from the length of the other by a distance greater than one of the characteristic coherence lengths, and periodically varying the path length of one of the arms (1A,1B). An amplitude modulated output of the interferometer system (1) is detected at a detector array (2) and the resulting signal processed to recover the image. The method is characterised in that antiphase outputs of the interferometer system (1) are detected independently and the resulting signals subtracted one from the other to recover the image.</p>
