A feed device for a tree-reprocessing unit suspended from a crane arm belonging to a crane, for feeding tree trunks through the unit, which device comprises feed rollers which are pivotable each about a respective axle in the stand of the unit, these axles being situated at essentially the same distance from a longitudinal centre plane through the unit. In order to enable the feed rollers to be capable of gripping and securing a gripped tree, irrespective of tree diameter, without special gripping arms, the feed rollers 12 can be pivoted in a controlled manner, apart from about the axles 7, also each about a respective axle 19 parallel with the said axles 7 under the pivot motion, effected by a piston- cylinder device 16, about the axles 7 located in the stand of the unit and in the same direction about the two parallel axles 7,19, this in order to exert forces, irrespective of trunk diameter, which are directed inwards essentially parallel with the said centre plane 6 and which are at least equal in size with the opposite- directed force which is dependent upon the weight of the tree trunk. <IMAGE> |
