The apparatus comprises a blood vessel information detector for a vibration waveform produced by the blood vessel. A device detects a maximum point of the hold signal waveform. A minimum value point is determined within a time region, the final instant of which is the detected maximum point. A discrimination decides if the difference between the max. and the min. values falls within a predetermined range. A second max. value is determined within a time region which ends at the min. value point. A device discriminates if the difference between the second max. and the min. falls in a certain range.
