The component insulates, waterproofs and finishes a concrete foundation on which a wall is erected. It comprises a plate (5) with a layer of insulating material (6) on its inside surface. This extends at least for the height necessary to insulate the foundation from the cold, and is bent over at the top so as to extend above the foundation (1) and below the wall (4). The plate can be of synthetic material.
