Device is claimed for measuring the characteristics of gas in a blast furnace and is made up of a tubular element (1) in the space above the furnace charge (2), this tubular element (1) being connected by one end through an orifice in the furnace wall. A flexible pipe (3) is lodged inside the tubular element (1) and can slide freely in it. The flexible pipe (3) has ballasting component(s) (5) near the flexible pipes free end inside the furnace and this free end has means (10) of measuring the gas temp. as well as means of sampling the gas in the space above the furnace charge. The tubular element can be arranged to slide radially across the furnace.
