PURPOSE:To detect a peak even in case the peak has a level approximately equal to that of the noise by adding the members proportional to the 4-power value of the density of a subject picture element to two members of a picture energy function and performing the smoothing and emphasizing actions so as to secure the max. probability caused by the picture energy. CONSTITUTION:The source picture data is smoothed so as to secure the max. probability that is decided by the picture energy including a member where the differentiation related to the density of each subject picture element is proportional to the density Laplacean obtained at a subject position and a member proportional to the square of density of the noise at each subject. Then, the new picture energy is obtained by adding a member proportional to the 4-power value of the density of the subject picture element to the old picture energy. The source picture data is changed so that the probability decided by the new picture energy is max. and the low frequency component is emphasized to attain the binarization without using the threshold value. Then, a peak position is detected in a picture. Thus, the peak can be detected even with such a picture that has its peak approximately equal to the level of the noise and has the hardship to set the threshold value. |
