PURPOSE:To use photochromic materials as an optical recording medium to record and reproduce information by using ultraviolet rays as the beam of one pickup and using visible rays as the beam of the other. CONSTITUTION:Photochromic materials are used as the optical recording medium, and an erasing pickup 5 and a recording/reproducing pickup 6 are provided independently of each other, and ultraviolet rays are used as the beam of one pickup 5, and visible rays are used as the beam of the other pickup 6. Photochromic materials are colored to raise the reflection factor because ultraviolet rays are used for the erasing pickup 5, and photochromic materials are achromatized and are switched to the transparent state to reduce the reflection factor because visible rays are used for the recording/reproducing pickup 6. Thus, recording is possible, and the beam intensity of visible rays is reduced and a recording track is scanned to reproduce recorded information based on the difference of reflection factor. |
