PURPOSE:To facilitate branching of a tape-shaped optical fiber to plural optical fibers by connecting covering layers in a part to be branched by a brittle connecting material. CONSTITUTION:To four pieces of the optical fibers respectively constitute two pieces of the optical fibers which are integrated to one body by the covering layers 3a, 3b. The connecting material 4 for integrating these fibers is formed by constricting the same in the spacing part. The connecting material 4 is formed of a thermosetting resin or UV curing resin and is lower in Young's modulus or brittler than the covering layer 3. Since the physical strength is low in the connecting material 4 part in this case, the glass fiber can be easily branched to the one optical fiber contg. the glass fibers 1a, 1b and the glass fibers by tearing the connecting material in this part. |
