PURPOSE:To stably replenish the quantity gasified and dissipated by the laser radiation by feeding xenon or krypton gas through a small opening on an X-ray target forming chamber and differentially discharging it into an X-ray generating chamber. CONSTITUTION:Xenon or krypton gas flows through a very small gap between one face of a cryo-plate C and the bulkhead P of an X-ray target forming chamber T in contact with one face of the cryo-plate C. It is then differentially discharged into an X-ray generating chamber G with the internal pressure lower than that of the X-ray target forming chamber T through an opening O provided oppositely to one face of the cryo-plate C. Xenon or krypton gas concentratively flows near the region of the cryo-plate C radiated by incident laser rays through the opening O. Xenon or krypton is thereby re-accumulated during the laser nonradiation period in the region where xenon or krypton has been gasified and dissipated by the laser radiation, and the surface of the cryo-plate C is invariably covered by solidified xenon or krypton. |
