The pump unit includes a liquid pump and an electric motor which drives it in rotation. The pump comprises tubular inlet (10) and outlet (12) pipes having the same interior diameter and aligned one with the other; and a cylindrical sleeve (13), of similar diameter to the pipes. The sleeve turns about its axis, with rotating pumping elements (29, 35) being solidly attached to the interior of the sleeve. A brushlee electric motor (19, 15, 16) is mounted as a ring around the sleeve, the rotor (19) being mounted outside the sleeve and fixed to it, and the stator, placed around the rotor, being attached to the fixed pump body.
