摘要 PURPOSE:To stabilize gradational images at high speed and with low electric power, by selectively causing a heat generating resistor layer part to generate heat, thereby recording on an image receiving material part, and setting the velocity of a heat generating transfer part relative to an electrode head part to be different from that of the image receiving material part. CONSTITUTION:A potential difference is provided between discrete electrodes 11' and a common electrode 12, the sheet resistivity ratio of a higher resistance layer 21 to a heat generating resistor layer 22 of a heat generating transfer material 2 is set to be high, and the spacing between the discrete electrodes 11' and the common electrode 12 is designed to be larger as compared with the thickness of the high resistance layer 21. As a result, a signal current path becomes as indicated by 22', heat is generated by the resistor layer 22 at least on the sides of both of the electrodes, and the Joule heat thus generated transfers a coloring matter to an iamge receiving material 3, thereby recording. In this system, stability of contact of the transfer material 2 and an electrode head 1 at the time of recording is promoted, and wear or contamination of the surfaces of the head and the transfer material can be reduced.
