PURPOSE:To simplify an image forming process, by incorporating into a nonimpact-type image forming device an image forming mechanism for forming a high molecular weight compound gel comprising a high molecular weight compound film, releasing a liquid from the gel by applying a local electric field, and making a pigment carry the released liquid to transfer the pigment onto a printing medium. CONSTITUTION:A pigment dispersion system 40 is poured into a space layer provided between a water-absorptive high molecular weight compound film 20 and a porous body 30 in an image forming mechanism, and is brought into contact with the high molecular weight compound film 20, whereby a liquid portion is entirely absorbed from the dispersion system 40 into the film 20 to form a high molecular weight compound gel 20'. Next, a printing medium (paper) 04 is superposed on image forming elements provided with the gel 20', and a voltage is applied between an image writing head (electrode) 02 superposed on the printing medium 04 and a conductive substrate 10. The gel 20' at a part supplied with the voltage is caused to shrink, thereby releasing a liquid, by which pigment particles 50 are carried to the side of the head 02 in the form of an ink, and are transferred onto the printing medium 04, thereby forming a desired image on the printing medium 04. |
