A novel method for processing a silver halide color photographic material is provided, which comprises processing a silver halide color photographic material having at least one silver halide emulsion layer on a reflective support with a color-developing solution substantially free of benzyl alcohol and containing at least one compound represented by formula (I) <IMAGE> (I) wherein R1 represents a hydrogen atom, -CH2COOH, or <IMAGE> R2 represents a hydrogen atom or -COOH; n represents an integer of 0 or 1; and Z represents atoms necessary for the formation of an aromatic ring.
