NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I (R1 and R2 are H, lower alkoxy, OH or together methylenedioxy; R3 and R4 are lower alkyl or R3 and R4 form 1-pyrrolidinyl or piperidino together with N) and acid addition salt thereof. EXAMPLE:N-[4-[2-(Dimethylamino)ethoxy]benzyl]-3,4-dimethoxybenzamide. USE:A digestive tract motion-activator agent. PREPARATION:A carboxylic acid expressed by formula II is converted into a reactive derivative thereof (e.g. acid chloride, acid anhydride, mixed acid anhydride, etc.), which is then reacted with an amine expressed by formula III which is a novel compound in the presence (or absence) of a base (e.g. pyri dine or picoline) in an inert organic solvent (e.g. ether or benzene) to provide the compound expressed by formula I.
