The non-slotted end of the nut (10) has a flange (12) which fits and is clamped between two plates (16, 17) in the fixture. These plates enable the slide nut assembly to be fixed in a machine unit or similar by means of screw unions (20). The two plates are pressed to locate against the flange by a number of spring devices (21) between the heads of the screws and the outer (16) of the two plates. This regulates friction between the plates and the flange under the effect of reaction pressure from the machine unit. The two plates are formed on their insides with recesses for outer (18) and inner (19) friction plates which locate against the flange on opposite sides. The nut itself can be of bronze or plastic. |
