ADSORBENT FOR SERUM AMYLOID A PROTEIN

PURPOSE:To selectively remove serum amyloid A protein by introducing a nitrogen-contg. group shown in a specified general formula into at least one part of the surface of a water-insoluble matrix and forming an adsorbent for serum amyloid A protein. CONSTITUTION:An adsorbent for serum amyloid A protein is formed by introduc ing a group shown in -NR<1>R<2> [R<1> shows hydrogen atom., methyl group and ethyl group, R<2> shows such atomic group that value of log P (P is distribution coefficient in water/octanol system) of R<2>H compd. is 0-3.2] into at least part of the surface of a water-insoluble matrix. As a concrete sample of the water- insoluble matrix, an inorganic carrier and an organic carrier consisting of a synthetic high polymer and polysaccharide are used. The obtained adsorbent is inexpensive and serum amyloid A protein incorporated in body fluid can be selectively removed thereby.
