PURPOSE:To obtain a high-density image having a satisfactory reproducibility in a low-density part and a superior gradation, by a method wherein a resin having a fine porous configuration is composed by combining a two or more types of resins having different melting points or softening points. CONSTITUTION:In an ink layer 2 on a substrate 1, a hot-melt ink component made of a hot-melt substance, a coloring agent, and an oil is held in a fine porous resin configuration combining two types of resins having different melting points or softening points. By using a thermal transfer recording medium constructed as the above, the amount of an oozing coloring agent is varied according to the amount of a thermal energy applied by a thermal head 3, etc. Therefore, by controlling the applied thermal energy, the amount of the coloring agent to be transferred can be changed. In this manner, an having a wide range of gradation with fidelity as well as smoothness and sharpness can be obtained. |
