PURPOSE:To improve the productivity of a cut-worked article by prolonging the operation time and drastically improving the service life of a carrier plate by forming the carrier plate for cutting work from a specific fiber-reinforced resin plate. CONSTITUTION:A thin workpiece (e.g., ceramic plate) having a finished thickness of 0.5mm or less is inserted into the pocket 4 of a carrier plate 3, and said carrier plate 3 is revolved reversely to the grindstone parts 2 and 2' formed integrally with the reinforcing steel plates 1 and 1', and the both surfaces of the workpiece are simultaneously grinding-worked between a pair of grindstone parts 2 and 2'. In this case, the carrier plate 3 consists of a fiber-reinforced resin plate having a thickness of 0.5mm or less which is constituted of a thermosetting resin and a fiber cloth having a tensile strength of 200kg/mm<2> or more and a elastic modulus of 4,000kg/mm<2> or more. The heat resistance, toughness, and abrasion resistance of the carrier plate 3 thus formed from the fiber- reinforced resin plate can be improved, and the service life of the carrier plate 3 can be drastically improved. |
