The improvements to total-safety systems, using bimetallic elements, for a gas-fired water heater are characterised in that the body 1 of the gas tap includes an external fly (balance arm) 11, at one of the ends of which is fixed a lead 12 coming from the bimetallic element located near the pilot flame, while the other end of the fly (balance arm) bears on the auxiliary stem (rod) 13 which tends to project radially outwards under the effect of a spring 16, the auxiliary stem (rod) 13 lies outside the chamber in which the safety valve operates, enabling the latter to be manually opened by the water-heater control, while, at the end of the ignition phase and by virtue of the deformation of the bimetallic element, the auxiliary stem (rod) 13 is projected radially towards the chamber of the safety valve, the latter being in the open position, and as long as the auxiliary stem (rod) 13 is not projected radially towards the outside by the spring and its rapid and instantaneous movement towards the closure position. The invention relates to the improvements to total-safety systems, using bimetallic elements, for gas-fired water heaters. <IMAGE>
