PURPOSE:To extremely easily form a light guide without requiring intricate processes by using an org. material as a waveguide material and forming the light guide having a desired refractive index distribution in a desired region by photopolymn. CONSTITUTION:A clad material 12 consisting of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) is coated on a substrate 11 consisting of Si, etc. A core material 13 consisting of the PMMA dissolved with the monomer of styrene St is coated thereon. An exposed region 13 changes by inducing photopolymn. and generates a difference in refractive index from a non-exposed region 13 when the waveguide of a prescribed pattern is drawn on the core material 13 by using a light beam (laser light). The light guide is thus obtd. The light guide having an arbitrary difference in refractive index and an arbitrary shape is thereby extremely easily formed without requiring intricate processes. |
