An epithelial protein and dna thereof for use in early cancer detection

A method of diagnostically screening for precancer or cancer in a mammal. A method comprises: (a) detecting the level of an epithelial protein in a test biological sample comprising the epithelial protein obtained from the mammal and (b) comparing the level of the epithelial protein in the test biological sample with the level of the epithelial protein in a normal sample obtained from the mammal. A higher level of the epithelial protein in the test biological sample as compared with the level of the epithelial protein in the normal sample is indicative of the presence of precancer or cancer in the mammal. The presence of the epithelial protein in the test biological sample at all is also indicative or the presence of precancer or cancer in the mammal.
