PURPOSE:To form a plating layer having an excellent adhesive property by chemically etching the surface of polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), applying a thermosetting adhesive, roughing and activating the surface of the adhesive layer, and then applying chemical plating. CONSTITUTION:PPS is dipped in a liq. mixture of a bichromate and sulfuric acid to chemically etch the surface. The PPS surface is treated, as required, with a primer, about 20-200g/m<2> of the thermosetting adhesive consisting of the acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber, an epoxy resin and/or a phenolic resin, and an acid anhydride as the curing agent is then applied, and the adhesive is heated and cured. The surface of the obtained adhesive layer is roughed by a liq. bichromate-based etchant and then activated by the conventional method, and then the layer is chemically plated. Electroplating is further applied, if necessary. By this method, a plating layer having high peel strength and an excellent adhesive property is obtained. |
